Memorable Stay

“We have just returned from two nights at Carradales, and can only reiterate what previous reviews have said. The house has been sympathetically transformed into a luxury guest house while retaining the ambience of a home. Steve and Maurice are wonderful hosts who cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Steve, who is a professional chef, worked his magic using local ingredients. My wife wanted to know how the meals had been prepared, and he enthusiastically explained. When we return we will probably combine our stay with golf at Dunaverty and Macrihanish which are both pleasant drives away.”

Fabulous Weekend

“Wow!! What a great weekend we’ve just spent at Carradale’s! Superb bedroom, beautiful bathroom, and great food. We had dinner on our first night and were treated to a real gourmet feast, alongside fine wine and locally sourced spirits and beers. Carradale is a good base for a holiday in the Kintyre peninsula, and Carradale’s is the ideal pied-a-terre. Highly recommended.”

Very welcoming hosts and a great place to eat

“Ate a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I am a vegetarian and found that Maurice and Steve were very accommodating and provided an interesting and very enjoyable meal. The Carradales is beautifully decorated and furnished. We send Maurice and Steve our very best wishes and look forward to seeing them again on our next visit to Kintyre.”

“Fabulous meal served up by interesting, warm and friendly people. Exceptional inventiveness displayed by Peter, the chef. When we raved over the ice cream, Peter supplied us with a pint bottle of the milk from the Wee Dairy (four cows) that was used to make it. Maurice then took us on a tour of the hotel, showing us the fabulous rooms and a photo album of the restoration process. They have spent a lot of money on this place and it shows.

It will probably be a pricey stay, but you couldn’t do better. And for an evening meal, you certainly can’t do better in Carradale, and probably not anywhere else in Kintyre.”

Exceptional Gem

“Carradales is an exceptional gem in western Scotland along the “long and winding road” through Kintyre on your way to Campbeltown. Hosts Maurice and Steve do everything in their power to make you feel welcome in this recently-renovated and incredibly luxurious B&B that offers finer accommodations than many 5-Star luxury hotels. If you’re a golfer, Carradales is a short drive from the world famous Machrihanish golf course and the equally challenging but lesser known Carradale course. Steve is an amazing chef. Breakfast is included (try the “Full Scottish”) and a sumptuous dinner is an extra option. Carradales is perfection. Plan on wanting to stay longer than you’ve booked.”

Luxuriously, Comfortable and Cosy

“A truly luxurious high end Bed and breakfast Sumptuously no expense spared furnished very tastefully in a combination of modern contemporary and traditional very in keeping with this beautiful historic manse . Not a hotel but the rooms far exceed luxury levels than many five star hotels The beds are large and extremely comfortable , the ensuite is of a very high standard with an excellent shower and a large selection of toiletries supplied Not a restaurant but the food far exceeds many Michelin starred restaurants All this combined with a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere Make Carradales one of the finest places to stay in Scotland The hosts although relatively new to the area have an enormous knowledge of the whole Kintyre peninsula, and can give excellent local knowledge They are also extremely hospitable and have a very much can’t do enough to help you ethos . The professional chef Steve , is keen to point out the locally sourced produce on offer . And explain the excellent and varied menu even passing on some very useful cooking tips . Both Maurice and Steve go all out to make your stay as comfortable as possible Cannot reccomend Carradales enough and eagerly await our return.”

Luxuriously Equipped Rooms

“We had a wonderful meal including: local beef cooked in red wine, baked salmon with crayfish sauce, local smoked salmon, orange and ginger cheesecake, rose wine and berry terrine. This was served in the lovely, intimate dining room. Staying with family we did not use the hotel facilities but we were invited to look at the luxuriously equipped rooms. The guest house has been decorated in period with chandeliers and interesting antique pieces, with wood burning stoves and central heating, so without the period drafts! The whole experience was enhanced by the charming hosts, Steve and Maurice.”

A Memorable Anniversary Meal

“From the moment Maurice opened the door with a welcoming smile, we knew we were somewhere special and we were not wrong. Steve and Maurice are so enthusiastic about their new venture and rightly so. We were shown into a very comfortable sitting room where both Maurice and Steve took time to tell us about the history of the house and were very interested in us. The meal, which was served in a small intimate dining room, was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Afterwards,we were given a tour of the house which has been renovated to a very high standard.”

Fabulous Guesthouse

“We stayed in this beautiful guest house for two nights. The rooms are all different, and named after local castles. This is a very high end guest house, no expense has been spared, which made our stay very relaxing. Steve who is a professional chef cooked us a fantastic evening meal the smoked salmon with prawns and the chicken with a pineapple salsa were a delight. Maurice who is front of house does a great job at making you feel relaxed, and that nothing is to much trouble. There is lots of choice for breakfast, I went for the Scottish breakfast all locally sourced and made by Steve. Give this place ago you will not be disappointed.”

Exquisite Evening Meal

“First visit to the newly opened Carradales for dinner and it most certainly won’t be our last. Steve and Maurice are the perfect hosts and made us feel totally at home. Maurice’s experience in hospitality and Steve’s CV as a chef shone through in everything they delivered. The seafood starter of smoked salmon and prawns was a delight and the mushrooms on ciabatta really tasty. The mains of slow cooked beef and salmon hit the mark perfectly, leaving just enough room to squeeze in a dessert, the highlight of which had to be the chocolate Bakewell tart – moist with a lovely balance between the sweet smooth chocolate sauce and the lemon curd lining the pastry. Great value and a wonderful experience.”

Treated with Style and Cheery Professionalism

“We enjoyed the most wonderful evening with Steve and Maurice last week! We were welcomed as friends and treated with style and cheery professionalism. Our starters were delightful, with the mushrooms plump and juicy and the smoked salmon and prawns succulent and tasty. The mains of coconut chicken breast accompanied by vegetable rice and salmon fillet with a crayfish sauce were equally amazing. The sauces offered delicate sophistication evidencing a very talented chef. Dessert of chocolate Bakewell tart was simply stunning and completed the best meal we have eaten in Kintyre in recent years. Thank you, gentlemen – we will certainly return!”
