A Luxury Staycation in Argyll – Carradales

Our Blog

The Scenery

If you want to get away from it all, to fresh air, wide open spaces with natural and stunning views, then Carradales really does have it all. Paul McCartney came here to escape Beatlemania and it’s still the perfect place to escape. Right on our door step are the rocky sea cliffs, castles, numerous lochs, distant views of mountains and glens. There are ample opportunities for exploring new places with wonderful forest walks, The Kintyre Way and the wonderful Argyll 190, just breath-taking.

The Weather

The Kintyre Peninsula is known for having a micro climate. We’ve having the warmest summer for years, and mild winters. We have some wonderful hidden sandy beaches such as Carradale Bay 10 minutes away and Machrihanish Beach only 30 minutes away.

The Things to do

There really is so much to do. Forest walks, cycling routes, nature watching – otters, basking sharks, dolphins, deer, red squirrels and birds of prey can all be seen nearby with our famous highland cattle. We are steeped in history with many places of interest right here. A real gem of a golf course is Carradale Golf Course with its magnificent 360degree views to Arran and Ailsa Craig. Nearby Campbeltown has 3 of the best whisky distilleries in the world. 10 minutes away we have the new Kintyre Gin Distillery with its own Gin School. For the more adventurous there are opportunities for fishing and kayaking and our location makes us a great stepping stone to explore further afield to the islands of Arran, Jura, Islay and Gigha. However, you choose to spend your time here, we guarantee that you will have the best time ever.

The Food and Drink

Steve is a professional Chef. Our produce is all locally sourced.  We are fully licensed with a lovely selection of local beers, whiskies, gin and fine wines. There is also a delicious range of food & drink producers on our doorstep, from locally reared venison and Scottish trout and Salmon, to cheeses and jams and some hidden fresh fish restaurants.

It’s Convenient

Argyll is so accessible from central Scotland, that you can just pack up and set off for a short break without any planning. We are 3 hours from Glasgow, so it’s ideal even for a daytrip (though we do recommend spending more time here!)

There is a 30minute flight from Glasgow to Campbeltown too and we can arrange car hire or arrange pick up for you.

Our Hospitality

Come and stay with us in Kintyre’s Only 5 Star VisitScotland Guest House.
