Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight – Experience Carradales!

Our Blog

Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight is an annual celebration of the best Scotland’s food and drink sector has to offer. This year it is celebrating 10 years and runs between the 31st August and 15th September. It is run by VisitScotland in promoting the Scottish food and drink sector.

With this in mind, Carradales are participating in this celebration, highlighting our locally and carefully sourced ingredients for dishes created by Steve our Chef. As “Taste Our Best” Accredited and the only 5 Star VisitScotland Guest House in Kintyre, we are excited to be part of this forum which gives us the opportunity to promote Carradales as a foodie place to stay and in style and comfort.

A full Scottish, lighter option or vegetarian breakfast, lunch and evening meal can be enjoyed from the warmth of the wood burner in the dining room. Meals are created by Steve who just happens to be a professional Chef. Steve takes pride in preparing meals from locally sourced ingredients where possible. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements on booking so that Steve can cater to your specific needs.

Non- Guest Residents are welcome to dine at Carradales. Booking is essential. Carradales is perfect for celebrating that special occasion. We are also able to cater for small groups up to 10 people and serve light lunches from the garden when sunny or dining room.

Carradales boast a wonderful selection of wines from Woodwinters in The Bridge of Allan.

Menus can be found on our website in the dining section.

We also serve a selection of Loch Fyne Ales which include Hurricane Jack, a happy blonde ale with fruit character. Jarl, a happy blond session ale with a citrus and hop aroma and Vital Spark, a very rich dark ale with berries and roasted malts aroma.

Fyne Ales is located on a working farm in Argyll at the head of Loch Fyne, an area renowned for its excellent natural produce. They are passionate about brewing outstanding and progressive craft ales so we are delighted to serve these to our guests.

We are also proud to be licensed to serve local whisky from Springbank, Glengyle, and Glen Scotia. Among these are The Springbank Single malt whisky 10 year old; Longrow Peated Single Malt, Hazelburn Single Malt, Kilkerran Single Malt, Glen Scotia Double Cask Single Malt, Glen Scotia Single Malt 15 year old; William Cadenhead blended Scotch Whisky 20 years old, Cadenheads Classic Rum, a 6 year old blend column still and pot still rum from Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Panama and Trinidad, then there is a Cadnheads Wine Cask.
